NVIDIA RTX Spark and PAIR move AI agents onto local PCs
At IFA 2026 NVIDIA showed AI agents running on a user's own hardware. RTX Spark Windows PCs arrive in October, and a free PAIR tool spreads inference across a home network.

NVIDIA announced October RTX Spark PCs and a free local-AI router
NVIDIA is pushing frontier AI from the cloud onto the user's own desk. At IFA 2026 the company detailed new RTX Spark Windows PCs arriving in October, a free tool called PAIR for spreading AI work across a home network, and a fresh set of open-weight models tuned to run locally.[1]
The RTX Spark platform pairs a one-petaFLOP RTX Blackwell GPU with up to 128 GB of unified memory and a 20-core Grace CPU. NVIDIA says the combination enables compact desktops and thin laptops that can run always-on agents in the background under Windows' new agent framework.[1]
PAIR, or Personal AI Router, addresses a different constraint: most homes have idle computing power. The open-source tool discovers compatible PCs on a local network and sends independent inference requests to whichever system has capacity, working with Ollama and LM Studio.[1]

Why running agents locally matters
Running an AI agent on a public cloud means every prompt, document and result leaves the user's machine. Local inference keeps that data on-site and removes the latency and cost of a round trip to a data centre. NVIDIA is betting that developers and privacy-conscious users will prefer agents that run on their own hardware.[1]
The pitch is not only about privacy. An always-on agent needs a machine that is always available, which a compact RTX Spark desktop or an all-day-battery laptop can provide. NVIDIA ties the hardware to Windows' new agent framework, so agents run under operating-system level control rather than as background scripts.[1]

PAIR turns a home network into one computer
NVIDIA says more than half of US households have two or more PCs, and much of that capacity sits idle. PAIR discovers compatible machines on the local network and routes each independent inference request to the system that has capacity, adapting as devices join or leave.[1]
The beta supports Windows, macOS and Linux, and works with GeForce RTX 20 Series GPUs and newer, RTX PRO workstations, DGX Spark and Apple M4 or newer silicon. It is free and open source, so the barrier to trying it is low even if the hardware requirement excludes older machines.[1]
Games and software fill out the October launch
Games remain the proof point for a new Windows platform. At Gamescom, NVIDIA said Electronic Arts, Embark and Ubisoft are bringing titles such as Apex Legends, ARC Raiders and Anno 117 to RTX Spark, joining earlier supporters that include KRAFTON, NetEase, Riot Games and Xbox.[1][2]
Anti-cheat support matters because RTX Spark runs Arm-based Windows, where compatibility had been an open question. NVIDIA is working with Electronic Arts to bring native EA Javelin anti-cheat support to the platform, which could make or break its appeal for competitive multiplayer games.[2]
