Community / AI news for Malaysia
Jelajah Malaysia Digital names seven Malaysian grant recipients
The first stop mixed workshops, careers, AI demonstrations and entrepreneurship. The grant presentation was real; it was not a new open application call.

In brief
- Jelajah Malaysia Digital 2026 began in Damansara Damai on 8 August, with nearly 1,000 people attending the launch.[1]
- Seven local companies received grants under the Malaysia Digital Catalyst Grant and Digital Content Grant Programme during the event.[1]
- The release announced recipients, not a new grant application window or funding amount for the public.[1]
A national roadshow opened with community programmes and seven grantees
Malaysia’s 2026 digital roadshow has started with a broad public agenda: practical workshops, industry sharing, AI and robotics demonstrations, career opportunities, live selling, gaming and local entrepreneurship. MDEC is targeting a combined physical and online reach of 500,000 people across five planned stops.[1]
At the launch, MDEC also presented grants to seven Malaysian companies. That is a useful signal about the types of digital and content businesses receiving support, but the media release did not open a new application round.[1]

Why Malaysia should care
The useful part of JMD is proximity: workshops, career routes and business support move closer to local communities. The important distinction is that a grant handover does not equal a fresh grant opening.
Students and youth
JMD brings learning, technology demonstrations and career exposure into a public community format.[1]
Practical move: Follow MDEC’s official channels for the next location and programme schedule before travelling.
Freelancers and SMEs
The programme includes freelance, business, entrepreneurship and practical digital productivity content.[1]
Practical move: Bring one real customer, sales or operations problem to the workshop so the advice becomes actionable.
Grant seekers
The launch identified seven recipients but did not announce a new open grant round.[1]
Practical move: Use the named recipients as a market signal, then wait for the official grant page and eligibility notice before applying.

What Malaysians can do now
- 01Check MDEC’s official site and social channels for the next confirmed JMD location and timetable.
- 02Separate event attendance, grant announcements and open applications in your opportunity tracker.
- 03If you want funding, prepare your problem, product evidence, Malaysian ownership documents and project budget before a real call opens.
What we still do not know
Three stops and future grant windows remain open questions
- The locations and dates of the final three roadshow stops after Selangor and Melaka.
- The individual award amounts and project scope for each of the seven named recipients.
- Whether MDCG or DCGP will open another application round in 2026.
