CelcomDigi launches an AI agent for SMEs. The price is still missing
Sophia AI is pitched as a digital workforce that can run business processes, but public pricing and independent SME results have not been published.

In brief
- CelcomDigi says it has commercialised Sophia AI for Malaysian enterprises and SMEs as an agentic-AI digital workforce.[1]
- The company says Sophia AI can execute tasks, connect systems and orchestrate processes such as invoice validation, exception handling and approvals.[1]
- The launch release does not publish pricing, a self-service start date or independent customer results.[1]
Sophia AI is being sold as an operational worker
CelcomDigi has moved its Sophia AI proposition from an internal automation story to a commercial service for Malaysian businesses. It describes the product as a configurable digital workforce that can work across existing systems instead of answering questions in a separate chat window.[1]
Its practical example is invoice-to-payment. CelcomDigi names six process verbs: read invoices, validate them, flag exceptions, route issues, trigger approvals and update systems. It says it deployed more than 400 automations internally, but that figure is not evidence that an SME will achieve the same outcome or return on investment.[1]

What CelcomDigi is actually selling
Sophia AI is positioned as a configurable digital workforce for Malaysian enterprises and SMEs, not a single off-the-shelf chatbot. CelcomDigi says it can be adapted to workflows across finance, retail, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics and the public sector.[1]
The company points to more than 400 automations already used internally. That operating history is relevant because enterprise automation usually fails at the handoffs between systems, policies and people, not at the moment a model produces a fluent answer.[1]
SOPHIA AI / ONE NAMED WORKFLOW
Invoice to payment is a chain, not a chatbot
The named use case is a connected operating pipeline. Each stage needs an owner and an exception route.[1]
By Utopia Data & AI Team
- 1
Receive and read
Capture the invoice and extract supplier, amount and line-item data.
- 2
Validate
Check records, duplicates and policy rules before the workflow advances.
- 3
Handle exceptions
Send uncertain or unusual cases to the right person with context.
- 4
Approve and update
Record approval, update the finance system and preserve an audit trail.
Why the invoice-to-payment example matters
Invoice processing is a useful test case because the work is repetitive but not simple. A system may need to read different layouts, validate supplier details, compare an invoice with an order, detect an exception, request approval and update a finance platform without releasing the wrong payment.[1]
An AI agent can reduce manual copying, but the buyer still needs rules for uncertain fields, duplicate invoices, unusual amounts and failed integrations. A demo that handles the happy path is not enough. The value appears only when the exception queue becomes faster and safer for the finance team.[1]

The commercial details are still the missing layer
CelcomDigi did not publish a standard price, deployment time or minimum contract in the announcement. That makes it impossible to judge affordability from the release alone. Integration work, data preparation, security reviews and ongoing support may matter more than the model fee.[1]
An SME should therefore start with one workflow that already has a measurable baseline: time per case, error rate, backlog and cost. The buying decision becomes clearer when Sophia AI can be compared with the current process over a fixed pilot, including the cases that still require a person.[1]

Why Malaysia should care
This makes agentic AI more tangible for local SMEs: invoices, approvals and system updates rather than another general chatbot. The commercial question is whether the time saved exceeds integration, subscription and oversight costs.
SME owners
The offer could reduce repetitive coordination without requiring an in-house AI engineering team.[1]
Practical move: Ask for a fixed-scope pilot around one high-volume process and a full cost breakdown.
Finance and operations teams
The product targets work that crosses documents, approvals and business systems.[1]
Practical move: Map exception cases and keep a named human accountable before allowing automated updates.
Malaysian AI vendors
A major telco is packaging integration, cloud, cybersecurity and automation into one enterprise offer.[1]
Practical move: Differentiate on a vertical workflow and measurable outcome rather than a broad AI-agent label.
What Malaysians can do now
- 01Choose one repetitive process with a clear owner, volume and baseline cost.
- 02Request pricing for setup, integrations, ongoing use, support and model consumption before approving a pilot.
- 03Define which exceptions must stop and wait for a person before any data or payment record changes.
What we still do not know
The commercial release leaves the buying details open
- Public package prices, minimum contract size and deployment time.
- Which accounting, ERP and industry systems are supported out of the box.
- Independent SME results for accuracy, time saved and total cost of ownership.
