Anthropic’s Managed Claude Platform Is Now Generally Available on Google Cloud
Anthropic and Google Cloud say a second way to use Claude on Google Cloud is now generally available. Anthropic runs it and acts as data processor, which matters for Malaysian teams with data residency rules.

In brief
- Anthropic said on 22 October 2026 that its Anthropic-managed offering of the Claude Platform is generally available on Google Cloud. Google Cloud’s post of 23 October describes it as sitting alongside the Google-managed option.[1][2]
- Customers sign in with Google Cloud IAM and pay on one Google Cloud invoice, and Claude usage draws down existing Google Cloud commitments. Anthropic is the data processor.[1][2]
- Anthropic’s page names only US and Global endpoints. Google says its own managed option offers data residency in the US, EU and APAC. Neither page mentions Malaysia.[1][2]
What Anthropic and Google published
Anthropic has made the full Claude Platform available on Google Cloud through an offering that Anthropic itself operates. Its announcement, dated 22 October 2026, says the offering is generally available. Google Cloud’s post the next day, by Michael Gerstenhaber, describes it as an addition to the existing Google-managed option.[1][2]
The two options use the same models and pricing. They differ in who processes the data and how quickly new features arrive. Neither page gives a Malaysian region, and Anthropic’s page names only US and Global endpoints.[1][2]

What each option offers
Under the Anthropic-managed option, Anthropic operates the platform on Google Cloud infrastructure and acts as data processor, under Anthropic’s Commercial Terms. Customers sign in with Google Cloud IAM and keep Cloud Audit Logging. Google Cloud says first-party tools and betas are available on day zero, and Anthropic says new features ship the same day they launch on the native Claude Platform.[1][2]
Under the Google-managed option, Google Cloud is the data processor under its existing customer agreements. Google lists VPC Service Controls, customer-managed encryption keys and data residency in the US, EU and APAC, plus native integration with services such as BigQuery and Model Armor. New Claude Platform features reach this option once they are integrated into Google-managed infrastructure.[2]

Models, features and billing
Both posts name Claude Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5. Anthropic’s page lists Claude Managed Agents in beta, code execution, agent skills, the Files API, prompt caching and batch processing. It says Fast Mode is generally available on Claude Opus 5.5, with up to 2.5 times faster output, at US$8 per million input tokens and US$40 per million output tokens.[1][2]
Billing runs through Google Cloud for both options. Google Cloud says pricing is the same and eligible commitments can be drawn down under either. Anthropic’s price is in US dollars, and neither page mentions ringgit billing.[1][2]

Choosing between them
Anthropic says the Anthropic-managed option suits customers who want day-zero access to all beta and generally available features. It says the Google-managed option suits customers who need Google Cloud as data processor, have strict regional data residency requirements, or want integrations such as Model Armor or Agent Engine.[1]
That guidance matters for regulated buyers. Anthropic’s page names only US and Global endpoints, so a team that must keep data in a particular place needs to check the endpoint and residency terms before choosing. We did not read the contract terms or the product documentation.[1][2]
Why Malaysia should care
Neither page mentions Malaysia. The news matters to Malaysian teams that already buy Google Cloud, because Claude spend can now sit on the same invoice and draw down the same commitment. It also raises a residency question. The Anthropic page names only US and Global endpoints, while Google lists US, EU and APAC residency for the Google-managed option. Teams in banking, health or the public sector should ask both vendors where data is processed before choosing.
Malaysian companies with Google Cloud commitments
Claude usage under either option can draw down eligible commitments.[1][2]
Practical move: Ask your account team which commitments qualify before moving spend.
Regulated firms and public agencies
Anthropic’s page names only US and Global endpoints.[1]
Practical move: Request written residency and processing terms before choosing an option.
What Malaysians can do now
- List which data your Claude workloads touch, then match it to a processor and endpoint before you pick an option.
- Ask your Google Cloud account team whether Claude spend counts against your existing commitment.
- Check each beta feature you rely on, because Google says new features reach its managed option only after integration.
What we still do not know
Several details are still open.
- Whether either option processes data in Malaysia or elsewhere in Southeast Asia.
- Which endpoints the Anthropic-managed option will add beyond US and Global.
- Whether ringgit billing is offered to Malaysian customers.
